Introduction

Daydance ("we", "us") operates the website daydance.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our platform.

Data we collect

We collect the following data when you create an account and use our services:

  • Account information: email address, first name, last name, optional display name
  • Preferences: language, notification settings, accent color theme
  • User-generated content: event memories (photos/videos), event ratings
  • Technical data: session tokens for authentication

How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve our services:

  • Account authentication and security (login, password reset, email verification)
  • Sending transactional notifications you opted into (event updates, group invitations)
  • Post-event feedback requests to registered participants
  • Personalizing your experience (language, theme, event recommendations)

Transactional emails

We send the following types of emails, all of which can be individually disabled in your profile settings:

  • Account verification and magic link login
  • Password reset requests
  • Post-event feedback (ratings and memories reminders)
  • Group invitation notifications

We do not send marketing or promotional emails. All emails are transactional and directly related to your use of the platform.

Cookies

We only use essential cookies required for the application to function: session authentication tokens and language preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.

Audience measurement

Daydance uses PostHog, an open-source web analytics solution hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany), to measure site traffic and understand how the community interacts with the app. This measurement is carried out without any cookie or persistent identifier.

Data collected

Pages visited, traffic source (external link, search engine, social network), country, device type, browser, anonymous actions performed in the app (event registration, search, etc.).

Data NOT collected

IP address (anonymized via daily hash), name, email, personal content, precise geolocation.

Analytics data is retained for a maximum of 12 months.

In accordance with the GDPR and Swiss nFADP, this processing is based on Daydance's legitimate interest in understanding how the service is used and does not require prior consent, since no cookie or persistent identifier is set.

You can opt out of this processing by enabling the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal or, failing that, Do Not Track (DNT) in your browser — Daydance honors both signals automatically. GPC is supported by Firefox, Brave and several privacy extensions; Chrome and Safari do not currently expose it to websites.

Error monitoring

To detect and fix bugs quickly, Daydance uses Sentry, an error and performance monitoring service. When a technical error occurs in the app (component crash, failed API request, etc.), an anonymized report is sent to Sentry.

Data collected

Error message, call stack, URL where the error happened, device type and browser version, deployed version of the app.

Data NOT collected

IP address (disabled server-side), name, email, password, or any content you entered in a form.

Error reports are retained for a maximum of 30 days and then automatically deleted.

This processing is based on Daydance's legitimate interest in keeping the service reliable, in accordance with the GDPR and the Swiss nFADP.
